Frisco Town

We decided to start off the trip nice and slow....
slow as in heading to San Francisco for 2 days.

We started our day at the Farmers Market in Davis before heading out of town.
I indulged in a chocolate croissant and fresh pressed apple cider....again.
Note the following two pictures dated 3/2011 and 10/2011.

Yes, I have a problem.

The produce was AMAZING. So colorful. So fresh. So local...so cheap.

Yes..I said cheap.
It's fantastic.

The kids were able to ride a carousal at the park where they had the farmers market.

This particular ride, however, is man powered....literally.

This dude sits and cycles in this little chair/boat/chair of torture for hours on end during the market.
When he cycles...it makes the merry-go-round...well, go around.

Pretty cool if you ask me.

P.S. Meet my Farmers Market pack-mules...best money can buy.

The kids also enjoyed fresh kettle corn and balloon animals courtesy of their Aunt Vera.

Aunt Vera is making said mom and dad look pretty lame to said children.
Just sayin'.

Then off to San Francisco.
The first stop?
Lombard Street.

We, being the awesome tourists we are, thought it would be fun to walk down and up first..then drive it.
We, being the naive tourists to Lombard street, decided to take the stroller down and up.

Note to self..and all of you future travelers of SF with children:
That little "ramp" at the top...is only at the top.
I repeat.
ONLY AT THE TOP.

And if you have a stubborn 2 year old, once you've gone a little way down in the stroller, no use in hiking the 5 minutes back to the car to put the stroller away.
So, what do you do?
Carry it.
Down.

And UP.

Workout completed.

Next, a short stop in Japan Town (much better than China Town in my opinion) for some Pan (pronounced "pawn") and choco babies.

Then off to Golden Gate Park.
The kids played and played and played...and played...and played...on the fantastic playground they have there.

Oh yes....please note the GIANT slide...
made out of cement.

Yup.
Cement.

Don't worry...we came prepared with cardboard to protect our bummies...and to gain warp speed...on the way down the cement slide.

Oh yes...and a carousal...since you must ride a carousal at least twice a day while on vacation with Aunt Vera.

This one not powered by bike.
Still made mom and dad look lame.
Thanks Vera.

Last stop, the beach.

This was Oliver's first time at the ocean.
Ever.

He was SO excited when we got there.
It took us 15 minutes to walk to the water because he was so fascinated with the sand under his feet.

When we reached the water, he was ecstatic.
Then a wave came in....and the water got closer.
And closer.

Oliver back up further and further.

The water touched his toes and he high-tailed it away from the water as fast as his little legs would carry him.

We tried 3 more times to get him to at least let the waves wash over his feet.
No dice.
Something about a big giant ocean and one little guy just didn't sit well.

He did enjoy digging and playing in the sand for a full hour though.

Bella had a blast.
As did the rest of us.
Bella and I were soaked in our street clothes by the time we left.

Well worth every drop of salty ocean water.

Off the the hotel, a dinner of pizza and pasta,

some swimming (in the hotel pool)...and then the kids zonked out big time in our suite as the adult pretended to be awake enough to watch some TV..then zonked out themselves sitting in their chairs.

Off to bed with sweet dreams of another day in SF to come.

I love this post! The apple cider pics, the man-propelled merry-go-round, carrying the stroller (ugh), playing at the beach...love them! Totally jealous I'M not the one at the beach!
Keep the updates coming!

(there I go with the exclamations again!)
